The idea for my 'Contoured Coasters' came about during a personal challenge to hike all 214 Wainwrights in The Lake District. All that time spent looking at a map, coupled with having recently invested in a laser cutter led to recreating popular areas of the Lakes that are perfect for putting under a well deserved pint/cuppa after a day out hiking.
You can pick 'n' mix your favourite designs (across the entire range) when purchasing these coasters. Simply let me know your choices upon checkout or via the Contact page.
There are eighteen different designs to chose from in The Lake District range, all of which can be seen in the photos:
• Cat Bells
• Great Gable
• High Street
• Langdale Pikes
• Loughrigg Fell
• Place Fell
• Old Man of Coniston
• Scafell Pike
Each Contoured Coaster design starts on the computer where I digitally recreate all the 50m contours, popular summits, any lakes, reservoirs or tarns, roads and place names. They are then laser etched and cut from oak veneered plywood, sealed with Danish oil, inset with blue tinted acrylic in place of water and finished with bright orange felt to protect your coffee table. They are highly accurate to a scale of 1:25000; although it's perhaps best not to use them to go walking!
Coasters are available to buy individually, as sets of four, or as sets of six.
I often make coasters to order so please expect 3-5 business days before they are ready to be posted out to you. Time of delivery from that point depends on your location and postal service. If you require your coasters by a certain date just drop me a message and I'll try my best to make it happen.
